LaPorte Texans -vs- Alvin Yellow Jackets

LaPorte Texans - 19 Alvin Yellow Jackets - 0

Week Nine: LaPorte Texans –vs- Alvin Yellow Jackets

Victory 19-0 Season Record – 9 wins 0 losses

The Yellow Jackets flew into Texans Stadium with an upset on their minds, but the Texans fast start changed their thinking very fast! After recovering a fumble on the opening kickoff, the Texans scored on a 5 play drive covering 35 yards. The drive was highlighted by an 18 yard pass from David Terrebonne to Caleb Longoria. It seemed that the Texans were off and running, especially when Nathan Redd recovered the ensuing kickoff on the Yellow Jacket 40 yard line, but the Texan drive stalled on the Yellow Jacket 1 yard line after 2 bobbles on handoffs. This was very uncharacteristic of the Texans, but it happened to them twice in this game.

The Defense kept the Yellow Jackets penned on the Texans end of the field with teeth rattling tackles from a swarming defense. Although many of the adults in the stands were fooled by the slight of hand by the Yellow Jacket quarterback and backfield, the Texan defense seemed to have no problem finding the ball. The Yellow Jackets turned the ball over on downs to the Texans on their own 23 yard line. David Terrebonne pitched the ball to Nathan Redd and he followed bone jarring blocks by Eric Kendzior and Lupe Gonzales for the touchdown run. Nathan Redd was covered with swarming Yellow Jackets on the last 7 yards of his touchdown run!

In the third quarter, there was a Deep Freeze sighting! Paul Bob, aka the “Deep Freeze” plowed his way through a tough Yellow Jacket defense for 4 yards! It was a toss up who was the most excited, Paul Bob, the rest of the Team, or the Coaching Staff on the Sideline! Those of my vintage were having flashbacks to “Refrigerator Perry!” (Kids, ask the coaches to explain!)

The Texans had another drive stall on the Yellow Jacket 1 yard line, but again, the incredible Texan defense kept the Yellow Jackets penned on their end of the field. Coach Steve’s defense kept its scoreless streak in tack. Do you realize that in 36 quarters of football, the Texans opposition has scored only 1 touchdown? Amazing, this defense has given up only 1 touchdown all season long! Way to go guys!

On the last play of the game, a determined Nathan Redd scampered around the right side for a 16 yard touchdown run. This ran the final score of the Yellow Jacket game to 19-0. What a great day for the Texans multi-dimensional offense!

This week we will be heading to play the Deer Park Rams who would like nothing better than to end a disappointing season by taking down our LaPorte Texans. The only thing that stands between an undefeated regular season and the Texans are these Rams. Boys! Let’s take it to them and end up 10-0 and playoff bound!
