LaPorte Texans -vs- Deer Park Rams

Week Ten: LaPorte Texans –vs- Deer Park Rams

Victory 37-0 - Season Record – 10 wins 0 losses

What a great way to end an outstanding regular season!!! Our Sophomore Texans finished their perfect regular season with 10 victories and no losses. During the season, our Texans outscored the opponents 249 – 6! That 6 games scoreless streak was solidified by Lupe Gonzales’never give up” attitude as he caught the Rams quarterback from behind after a 45 yard scamper to the Texans 5 yard line. Great job Lupe! Then the Texans Wrecking Crew held the hapless Rams to minus 2 yards on their next 4 carries! Coach Steve was proud of his defense! Just for an encore, the Wrecking Crew Defense held the Rams out of the end zone after a Texan turnover on their own 15 yard line. What an outstanding defense!

The Texan Offense was just as outstanding! David Terrebonne scampered 93 yards for the second touchdown of the game. Nathan Redd threw a great downfield block to spring him loose as he cruised down the sideline. (All those laps around Texan Field during practice seemed to pay off!) Not satisfied with just a great defensive play, Lupe Gonzales scored on a 40 yard play extending the Texans lead over the Rams. Nathan Redd scored on runs of 20, 58, 28 and 40 yards – with a bone crushing hit on an unsuspecting Ram on the way to his 4th touchdown! Austin Forkin had a catch for 16 yards to extend a drive early in the game. Caleb Longoria ripped the Ram defense for 9 yards on a reverse that left the Rams not knowing who to tackle! Coach Rae’s HAWGS paved the way for the “Glory Boys” as they ripped holes all through the Rams Defense. Some of those holes were so big that even Coach Rae could have scored through them! The only complaint I heard all day was from Coach Rae wanting his HAWGS to share in carrying the ball on some of the extra point attempts! (smile)

It was great to see Tyler Bozant, Alec Alvarado, Justin Flores and Blake Gamez carrying the ball on extra point attempts! Dustin Escobar had some carries late in the game just showing how deep the Texans are on both sides of the ball. Thanks Coaches for spreading the wealth!

Now to the Playoffs. After an incredible game in which the Deer Park Tigers defeated the Hitchcock Red Raiders 35-32, our first round playoff opponent has been determined. The Texans will be playing the Hitchcock Red Raiders this Saturday at 12:30 at the Deer Park North Campus.

Many of the Texans were at the Deer Park/Hitchcock game Tuesday Evening. On display at the end of the game was passion run amok by the participant’s parents. Please remember to cheer loudly this Saturday, but represent the Texan Family with sportsmanship and class. Don’t be drawn into foolish behavior!

Show dignity and grace! It’s the Texan Way!
